Client Overview

Our client is a leading US-based lighting products company selling through both eCommerce and physical stores. The company manages a catalog of more than 100,000 lighting products, including its own products and products sourced from 300+ vendors.

Its extensive catalog spans multiple lighting categories, creating significant complexity in managing product information, pricing, inventory, and digital assets consistently across its commerce ecosystem.

Problem Statement

The client received product information, inventory updates, and pricing data from hundreds of vendors in different file formats and structures. Product information was managed across spreadsheets, legacy systems, and Magento, creating fragmented processes and making it difficult to maintain a consistent, complete, and reliable product record.

As the product catalog and vendor network expanded, the client needed a centralized product data platform that could consolidate incoming vendor data, standardize it, enrich product information, and distribute accurate product content to its eCommerce store and marketplaces.

Key Challenges

  • Inconsistent Vendor Data

More than 300 vendors supplied product, inventory, and pricing information using different Excel files, structures, attributes, and formats.

  • Fragmented Product Information

Product data was spread across spreadsheets and legacy systems, preventing the organization from maintaining a unified source of product information.

  • Limited Scalability of Magento

Magento was being used to manage and publish large volumes of product information but was not designed to act as the central data-management layer for complex incoming vendor data.

  • Poor Product Data Quality

Incomplete and inconsistent information affected the quality of product content available to customers and made buying decisions more difficult.

  • Manual Data Management

Teams relied heavily on manual processes for consolidating, enriching, validating, and preparing product information for publication.

Solution Implemented

Credencys implemented a centralized PIM and DAM solution using Pimcore to consolidate product data and digital assets while automating the processing of incoming vendor information. Key solution components included:

  • Centralized Product Information Management : Implemented PIM to create a single source for product information, inventory updates, and pricing data across 100K+ products.

  • Automated Vendor Data Mapping: Developed automated data mappers to align incoming product, inventory, and pricing information from 300+ vendors with standardized product structures in Pimcore.

  • Product Data Modeling : Established data models to standardize vendor information and improve the consistency and completeness of product records.

  • Digital Asset Management : Implemented DAM to centrally organize product images, videos, documents, graphics, and other digital assets.

  • Product Enrichment Workflows : Created structured workflows for data addition, enrichment, review, and approval, helping teams maintain higher-quality product information.

  • Data Quality & Cleansing Rules : Configured cleansing and validation rules to help ensure that accurate and complete product information reaches downstream channels.

  • Enterprise & Commerce Integrations : Integrated Pimcore with the client's ERP, Magento eCommerce platform, reporting environment, and marketplace capabilities, enabling product data to flow consistently across the ecosystem.
