Akeneo Pricing (2026)

Akeneo pricing depends on the edition. The Community Edition is free open-source software you host yourself. The paid SaaS editions, Growth and Enterprise, are sold as annual subscriptions, and Akeneo does not publish their prices: you get a quote based on your catalog, users, channels and add-ons. Implementation, integrations and support come on top.

Akeneo pricing is one of the first things teams search for when they put Akeneo on a PIM shortlist, and one of the hardest to pin down, because the paid editions are quote-based. This guide explains, as of October 2026, what each Akeneo edition includes, what drives the price, what you pay on top of the licence, and how Akeneo compares with Pimcore and Salsify on cost.

Akeneo editions explained

Akeneo Community Edition

The Akeneo Community Edition is the free, open-source version of Akeneo PIM. You download it, host it on your own servers or cloud, and maintain it yourself. It covers the core of product information management: families, attributes, categories, channels, locales, imports and exports, and completeness.

It does not include the features Akeneo keeps for its paid editions, such as advanced user rights and approval workflows, and you get no vendor support. Akeneo states that it continues to support the Community Edition, but only the latest release receives fixes, so plan to upgrade regularly.

Akeneo Growth Edition

Growth Edition is Akeneo’s entry SaaS edition: Akeneo hosts, updates and runs it. In October 2024 Akeneo added three features to Growth that used to be Enterprise-only: the Asset Manager, the Rules Engine and Reference Entities. That made Growth a realistic choice for many mid-market companies that previously needed Enterprise.

Akeneo Enterprise Edition

Enterprise Edition is the top SaaS edition, delivered as a fully managed service. It adds the governance features larger organisations need, such as finer user rights and approval workflows, plus higher limits and more support. If you still run Akeneo 7 on premises or on Akeneo’s PaaS, note that version 7.0 reaches end of support on 30 September 2026, so a move to the SaaS editions (or another platform) belongs in your budget now.

What drives Akeneo pricing

Because Growth and Enterprise are quoted, the same edition can cost very different amounts for two companies. The main drivers are:

  • Edition: Growth or Enterprise, and the features you need from each.
  • Catalog size: the number of products and the complexity of your data model.
  • Users and teams: how many people work in the PIM, and in which roles.
  • Channels and locales: how many sales channels, markets and languages you manage.
  • Add-ons and apps: for example supplier onboarding, syndication to retailers, or connectors from the Akeneo App Store.
  • Contract terms: the length of the contract and the annual price increase on renewal.

Ask for every driver in writing, so you can see what happens to the price when your catalog or team grows.

The costs on top of the licence

The Akeneo licence is usually not the biggest part of the total cost. Budget for:

  • Implementation: discovery, data model design, configuration, testing and training. Akeneo projects are normally delivered by an implementation partner.
  • Integrations: connections to your ERP, eCommerce platform, DAM and marketplaces. Connectors exist for common platforms, but ERP integrations usually need custom work or middleware.
  • Data migration: cleaning, mapping and loading your existing product data. This is where most projects underestimate the effort; see our PIM data migration checklist.
  • Hosting and maintenance (Community Edition only): servers, monitoring, security patches and upgrades.
  • Your own team: the product data owners who run the PIM after go-live.

For a first estimate of the full cost, use our free PIM cost calculator. Our guide to PIM pricing and implementation cost explains each cost driver in more detail.

Worked example: what an Akeneo project costs

Numbers make this easier to picture, so here is a typical mid-market scope, without dollar amounts (they depend on your quote and your partner’s rates):

  • The company: a consumer brand with about 20,000 products, 4 sales channels (its own Shopify store, Amazon and two retailers), 2 languages, and an ERP that holds item numbers, prices and stock.
  • Edition: Growth Edition is usually enough. The brand needs the Asset Manager for images and the Rules Engine to fill channel attributes automatically, both now in Growth. It would move to Enterprise only if it needed approval workflows across several teams or fine-grained permissions.

Year 1 cost lines:

  1. The Growth subscription.
  2. Implementation: discovery, families and attributes, channels and locales, rules, and training.
  3. Integrations: a Shopify connector from the Akeneo App Store, plus an ERP integration that usually needs middleware or custom work.
  4. Data migration: cleaning and loading 20,000 products from spreadsheets and the ERP.
  5. Internal time: a product owner and the people who know the data.
  • Year 2 onwards: the subscription with its renewal increase, support and small improvements, and the cost of adding channels or markets.

Two things usually surprise teams in a scope like this. First, the ERP integration and data migration together often cost more than the first year’s subscription. Second, growth changes the quote: adding a third language or doubling the catalog can move you to a higher tier. Ask Akeneo how the price changes at your three-year size before you sign.

Akeneo Community or a paid edition: which do you need?

The free Community Edition is tempting, but it fits only some teams. Choose Community if most of these are true:

  • You have developers who can host, secure and upgrade a PHP application.
  • Your catalog and channels are simple, and one team owns product data.
  • You do not need vendor support, approval workflows or advanced user rights.
  • You are prepared to upgrade regularly, because only the latest release receives fixes.

Choose a paid SaaS edition if you want Akeneo to run the platform, need the Asset Manager and Rules Engine (Growth) or governance features (Enterprise), or simply cannot spare the internal effort to maintain a self-hosted PIM. Many teams start their evaluation on Community and buy Growth once they know the platform fits.

Akeneo pricing: how to get a fair quote

  1. Write your requirements first. Products, attributes, channels, locales, users, integrations and must-have workflows. Our free PIM RFP template gives you 120 requirements to start from.
  2. Ask for a scripted demo with your own products, not a generic demo.
  3. Get the licence and the implementation quoted separately, on the same scope, so you can compare like for like.
  4. Ask what changes the price: more products, users, channels or add-ons, and the renewal increase.
  5. Compare at least one alternative on the same requirements, so you know what the Akeneo price buys you.

Akeneo pricing: questions to ask Akeneo sales

  1. Which edition do you recommend for our scope, and which of our must-haves would need Enterprise?
  2. Which features in our list are add-ons or apps with their own price?
  3. How does the price change with more products, users, channels or locales?
  4. What is the maximum price increase at renewal, and is there a discount for a longer term?
  5. If we start on the Community Edition, how do we move to a paid edition later, and what does the move involve?
  6. Which implementation partners do you recommend for a scope like ours, and can we choose our own?
  7. How do we export our data and assets if we leave?

Ask for the answers in writing and attach them to the quote, so the commercial terms match what you were told in the demo.

How Credencys helps with Akeneo pricing

We are independent Akeneo consultants: we are partners of Pimcore and Syndigo, not of Akeneo, so we have no reason to push one edition or one platform. We help you work out which Akeneo edition you actually need, check the quote against your requirements, estimate the implementation, integration and migration cost, and compare Akeneo with alternatives on the same scope. If you have already chosen Akeneo, we can plan the data model and integrations, or review the work of your Akeneo integrator. See Akeneo implementation consulting.

FAQ

Is Akeneo free?

The Akeneo Community Edition is free, open-source software that you host and maintain yourself. The Growth and Enterprise editions are paid SaaS subscriptions. Even with the free edition you pay for hosting, implementation, integrations and support, so “free” covers the licence, not the project.

What is Akeneo pricing per year?

Akeneo does not publish prices for Growth or Enterprise; both are quoted per customer. The annual subscription depends on the edition, catalog size, users, channels and add-ons. Implementation and integrations are extra. For a first range of the total cost, use a PIM cost calculator and ask Akeneo for a quote on your scope.

What is the difference between Akeneo Growth and Enterprise?

Both are SaaS editions run by Akeneo. Growth covers the core PIM and, since October 2024, the Asset Manager, Rules Engine and Reference Entities. Enterprise adds governance features for larger organisations, such as finer user rights and approval workflows, plus higher limits and more support.

Is Akeneo cheaper than Salsify?

Often, especially for mid-market companies or teams that can run the free Community Edition. But both paid products are quote-based, and the total cost depends far more on implementation, integrations and data migration than on the licence. Compare quotes on the same scope before deciding.

What are the alternatives to Akeneo?

Common alternatives are Pimcore (open source, PIM plus MDM and DAM), Salsify and Syndigo (strong in retailer syndication), and inRiver (SaaS, popular in B2B). The right choice depends on your data model, channels and team. Our PIM platform selection service compares them independently.
