Salsify Alternatives (2026)

The best Salsify alternatives in 2026 are Syndigo and 1WorldSync for retailer syndication, Pimcore for complex data and full control, Akeneo and Plytix for faster, lower-cost starts, inRiver for B2B product storytelling, and Stibo STEP or Informatica for enterprise master data. The right one depends on your channels, data model and budget.

Teams look for Salsify alternatives for a few common reasons: the subscription grows faster than the catalog, the data model struggles with complex B2B products, or they need master data, digital assets and product content in one place. This guide compares eight Salsify alternatives by use case and pricing model, as of October 2026. In full disclosure: Credencys is a partner of Pimcore and Syndigo, and gives independent advice on the others.

Why companies look for Salsify alternatives

  • Cost as the catalog grows: Salsify is quoted mainly on SKUs and modules, so growth raises the bill. See Salsify pricing.
  • Complex B2B data: technical attributes, classifications and product relationships can be harder to model than consumer content.
  • More than product content: companies that also need customer, supplier or location master data, or a full DAM, want one platform.
  • Control: some teams want to host the platform themselves or own the code.

If none of these apply, staying on Salsify and fixing the setup may be the better choice. Our Salsify implementation consulting starts with exactly that question.

The 8 Salsify alternatives

1. Syndigo

Best for: brands, retailers and distributors that syndicate product content to many recipients. Syndigo combines PIM, MDM and content syndication, with a large network of retail recipients and GDSN data pools. It is the closest like-for-like Salsify alternative for retailer content. Watch out for: best value when syndication is central to your business. Pricing model: SaaS subscription, quote-based. Read What is Syndigo? and Syndigo vs Salsify.

2. Pimcore

Best for: complex product data, and companies that want PIM, MDM, DAM and a digital experience platform in one open-source platform. Pimcore’s flexible data model handles complex B2B catalogs, and you can host it yourself or use Pimcore’s PaaS. Watch out for: you need an implementation partner and a plan for hosting; retailer syndication comes through add-ons or integrations. Pricing model: free Community Edition (licence conditions apply) plus paid editions. Read Pimcore vs Salsify and Pimcore pricing explained.

3. Akeneo

Best for: mid-market brands and retailers that sell through many eCommerce channels. Akeneo is easy for marketing and eCommerce teams to adopt, with a large app store of connectors. Watch out for: complex B2B data models and governance needs may require the Enterprise Edition. Pricing model: free Community Edition plus quote-based SaaS editions. Read Akeneo pricing and Akeneo implementation consulting.

4. inRiver

Best for: B2B manufacturers and brands that sell through many channels and tell rich product stories. inRiver is a SaaS PIM with a flexible entity-and-link data model, syndication from its Core plan up, and Digital Shelf Analytics in its Professional plan. Watch out for: master data beyond products needs other tools. Pricing model: four customisable plans, quote-based. Read inRiver pricing.

5. Plytix

Best for: small and mid-sized brands that want a simple PIM with transparent pricing. Plytix is one of the few PIM vendors that publishes its pricing: tiers based on the number of SKUs, with add-ons for feeds, brand portals and channel connectors. Watch out for: less suited to very large or complex catalogs and enterprise governance. Pricing model: published SKU-based tiers.

6. Stibo STEP

Best for: large enterprises that need product, customer, supplier and location master data in one platform. Stibo Systems’ STEP is an enterprise multi-domain MDM platform with strong governance. Watch out for: programmes are large and need strong governance and budget. Pricing model: enterprise licence or SaaS, quote-based. Read Pimcore vs Stibo and Stibo STEP implementation consulting.

7. 1WorldSync

Best for: brands whose main need is exchanging product content with retailers through GDSN and retailer networks. 1WorldSync is a product content and GDSN network rather than a full PIM, so it is often used alongside one. Watch out for: you may still need a PIM for enrichment and internal workflows. Pricing model: quote-based.

8. Informatica Product 360

Best for: enterprises that already use Informatica for data integration, quality or MDM. Product 360 is Informatica’s PIM, and fits best inside an Informatica data landscape. Watch out for: heavier to implement than SaaS-first PIMs. Pricing model: quote-based. Read our guide to Informatica PIM.

Salsify alternatives by scenario

If you recognise your situation below, start your shortlist here:

  • “Retailer syndication is our business, but Salsify costs too much at our scale.” Compare Syndigo, and ask both vendors for quotes on the same SKUs and retailers.
  • “Our products are technical B2B products with specifications and relationships.” Look at Pimcore, inRiver and Stibo STEP.
  • “We need customer, supplier or location data as well as products.” Look at Pimcore (PIM plus MDM) or Stibo STEP for multi-domain master data.
  • “We are a small team and want something simple with clear pricing.” Look at Plytix or Akeneo’s Growth Edition.
  • “We want to own the platform and host it ourselves.” Look at Pimcore or the Akeneo Community Edition.
  • “We only need GDSN and retailer content exchange.” Look at 1WorldSync, alongside a PIM if you need enrichment workflows.

Migrating off Salsify: step by step

Moving off Salsify is a standard PIM migration, but it needs planning so retailers keep receiving content during the switch.

  1. Audit what you have: products, properties, digital assets, workflows, and every retailer and channel connection. Note which properties are actually used; most Salsify setups have many that are not.
  2. Design the new data model: map Salsify properties to the new platform’s attributes, families or classes, and decide what to clean up rather than copy.
  3. Export and clean: export products and assets from Salsify, fix duplicates, units and missing values, and keep the export as your baseline for reconciliation.
  4. Load and reconcile: run test loads into the new platform and compare counts, values and assets against the export until they match.
  5. Rebuild channels: reconnect retailers, marketplaces and your own store from the new platform, and test each feed with real retailers before cutover.
  6. Cut over and decommission: switch channel by channel, keep Salsify read-only for a short overlap, then end the subscription on its renewal date.

Plan the cutover around your Salsify renewal date, so you do not pay for two platforms for long. Our PIM data migration checklist covers each step in detail.

Salsify alternatives: what to check in a demo

Vendor demos look alike. To see the real differences between Salsify alternatives, give every vendor the same script:

  1. Your hardest product: the one with the most variants, attributes or relationships. Ask the vendor to model it live.
  2. Your most demanding retailer: show how a product becomes compliant with that retailer’s requirements, and what happens when the requirements change.
  3. A bulk change: update a price-relevant attribute on 1,000 products and publish it to two channels.
  4. A supplier upload: load a supplier’s messy spreadsheet and show how errors are caught.
  5. An image workflow: add images, crop them per channel and link them to the right variants.
  6. Reporting: show which products are not ready for which channel, and why.

Score each demo against the same criteria, and ask for the implementation effort behind each step, not just the result on screen.

How to choose between Salsify alternatives

  1. Start from the reason you are leaving. Cost, data model, master data or control each point to different platforms.
  2. Write your requirements once and send the same list to every vendor. Our free PIM RFP template has 120 requirements to start from.
  3. Run scripted demos with your own products, including your hardest product and your most demanding retailer.
  4. Compare the total cost, not the licence: implementation, integrations, data migration and your team. Try our PIM cost calculator.
  5. Plan the migration before you sign: mapping Salsify properties, products and assets to the new platform. See PIM migration services.

FAQ

Which of the Salsify alternatives is best?

It depends on why you are leaving. For retailer syndication, Syndigo is the closest alternative. For complex data and full control, Pimcore. For a faster, lower-cost start, Akeneo or Plytix. For B2B product storytelling, inRiver. For enterprise master data, Stibo STEP.

Who are Salsify’s main competitors?

Salsify’s main competitors in product content and PIM are Syndigo, Akeneo, inRiver, Pimcore, Stibo STEP and 1WorldSync, with Plytix competing for smaller brands. Analyst reports on PIM and product content platforms usually list most of these vendors together.

Are there free Salsify alternatives?

Yes, partly. Pimcore and Akeneo both offer free Community Editions that you host yourself. The licence is free, but hosting, implementation, integrations and support are not, and retailer syndication usually needs extra tools or add-ons.

How hard is it to migrate off Salsify?

It is a normal PIM migration: export products, properties and assets, map them to the new data model, clean and load the data with test loads and reconciliation, then reconnect retailers and channels. A focused migration typically fits into a first release of 3 to 6 months.

Should we stay on Salsify or switch?

Stay if Salsify covers your channels and data model and the problems come from setup or data quality; those can be fixed. Switch if you need complex B2B data, master data beyond products, more control, or a lower cost at your scale.
